Tai Chi We're very excited that we've restarted our programme of Tai Chi sessions and they're proving really popular. They are held in the Evergreen Hall, Angel Street at 12.00 every Wednesday, there is no charge and theyre aimed at complete beginners. You'll learn a set of simple Tai Chi/Qi gong moves and the group will build their confidence from week to week. These sessions will be very low impact and can be done seated or standing. Contact us for further details and ensure your place on future courses.
SHOUT holds monthly meetings where we have interesting speakers to talk about matters that affect the over 50s. Why not come along for a chat and a cuppa. The group are very friendly and welcome new members. Meetings are held in the Evergreen Hall, Angel Street, Bridgend on the third Wednesday of every month at 10.30. The dates for our meetings are:
18 January 2017- Celebrate the new year by joining us in a local restaurant for a meal, nothing too expensive. Its a good chance to chat and meet new people over a nice meal.
15 February 2017- Julie Skelton from Carers Wales will discuss the work that they do in raising awareness for carers and outline the support and information available.
15 March 2017 - Kate Barron from the Royal British Legion will discuss the work they do and the services available.
19 April 2017 - Richard Bowen, Programme Director from the New Welsh 111 medical service will discuss the service and how it will enhance the medical services within Bridgend.
17 May 2017Andrew Thomas and Sarah Harris from Bridgend CBC will discuss the Council's Ageing Well Plan. This exciting Wales wide programme is planned to improve the lives of the over 50s in our communities which account for over 35% of Bridgend's population.
21 June 2017 With all the changes to the waste collections starting in June Angela Todd from Bridgend CBC Waste Management team will visit the group to discuss the new programme and the implications for Bridgend.
19 July 2017 Represenatives from the Red Cross will give an informative presentation on First Aid and how our actions can really make a difference
16 August 2017 Norma Morgan, the Dementia Friendly Community Coordinator will give a presentation on Dementia Friends and how SHOUT can support the initiative
20 September 2017 Michelle Walker from Digital Communities Wales will discuss how they can assist to get more people on line within Wales to reduce exclusion and how SHOUT be involved.
18 October 2017 Marlene Thomas a Home Safety Practitioner from the Fire Service will discuss the service and how we can stay safe as we're starting to get our heaters and electric blankets out again
15 November 2017 The NHS Wales dietician and nutrition department of Bridgend Hospital will provide information on we can make sure we eat well for a healthy older age.
